I was recently out doing my civic and political duty when I came upon a very nice young woman with small children. She was visibly upset but was measured in her tone. She asked me for whatever help I could give her. There have been incidents on her street of drug usage and drug dealing. This activity has been going on for years. The neighborhood is mostly working class and middle class people trying to make their community a safe and pleasant place to raise a family.
For years in Babylon and elsewhere there are houses whose owners are living some place else and renting out the dwelling. These are the houses which are destroying the community because of continued criminal activities taking place. This woman's husband has been to see you and has been to the town hall at least 4 times to no avail.
Having these problems in other towns as well and being addressed, why couldn't the town of Babylon at least put pressure on these property owners who live far away from the destruction they impose on others to at least be held accountable for criminals who use and deal in drugs on and in their property, that help to destroy Babylon's quality of life and safety for it's citizens ?
The police have been doing all they can to catch the bad people but the town of Babylon seems to have dropped the ball on this one. Please help the residents of Stewart Street in Copiague retake their street from slumlords and drug dealers. The taxpayers of Babylon deserve better than what they are getting.
Sincerely:
Sansdoute
