And so long as Schaeffer is controlling politics in all of Suffolk nothing will be done about it. This is just another way to reward party has beens and/or cronies with do nothing jobs and benefits.

The shadow pay was begun under the Republican Almendinger and Noto administrations over a generation. It has just been left unchanged since the IDA was formed within the town. The fact that none of the other towns do it indicates that the Babylon Town Board should vote o eliminate the practice. I think they will during the 2008 year.

But if the Democrats were honest and sincere about fighting corruption they would have never continued the practice in the first place.
Unfortunately the Democrats in Huntington and Babylon have perfected the dishonest ways of the past. |

With the strong possibility of Spota being Nifonged maybe a good clean honest DA can get rid of the corruption in both towns.

Tony Noto, Pete McGowan, Law and Order Rettaliatta, what an historic lineup for reform this is. They are the reasons we are honored to have Petrone, Bellone and Nolan today!

The Governator |

Re: Typical Babylon Corruption

Where is the investigation? No investigation because the DA is in the Dems' pocket. Where are the Republicans who should be pushing for a change on that shadow board? No outrage because they are in the Dems' pocket too. Why are the voters not upset? Too lazy to care. You get the government you deserve and in this county the Democrats are King and the Republicans are cowards and the voters are sheep. The Democrats are smart enough to give the Republican leaders some jobs and influence and in return the Republican leaders are slaves to the master and don't really fight very hard. The Democrats are working the system and you can't fault them for that, they are just doing what Noto and McGowan taught them when they were on top. Until a new scandal explodes nothing will change.

Corruption is everywhere

Re: Corruption | ||

Corruption may be everywhere, but we should not have to accept that fact. The DA, regardless of party affiliation should be investigating issues as they are discovered. In this case Newsday found out about a shadow board and the misuse of taxpayers money. I believe a refund of all the money paid and some sanctions or fines are in order.

Babylon Official gives up Home over Prostitution charge in today's Newsday. When will it end?
|
|||
politics64 |
Wrong, it was a relative of an official whose rented
|
out house was used for illegal purposes. This is a real pathetic stretch to demonstrate corruption in Town Govt. Whats next, if your a town official and you knew somebody who knew somebody whose relative was involved in a crime than that official is also a criminal, If we follow this logic of corruption we will need some hundred million new jail cells in this country! Pathetic!

One Who Knows |
Wrong... | ||
|
It was the Commissioner's son who was the pimp in question, and in his mother's house, he committed crimes against girls as young as 12 years old. Seems Mama Carter-Davis never looked in on her son "Magnificent" Corey Davis while he was using the family home as a brothel to train little girls how to sell their bodies.
Check the facts. |

Question | ||
|
Were any of the girls who were forced into prostitution recruited from the program run by the Town of Babylon? and if so who is to blame? Where did the girls come from? how did the pimp find the 12 year old girl?
|
|||
One Who Knows |
More of the facts... | ||
|
According to attorneys involved in the prosecution and defense of the pimp, Corey Davis, Commissioner Constance Carter-Davis was in no way involved in any of the heinous acts her son was charged with; her involvement was passive as a co-owner of the house where most of the children were "kept".
Carter-Davis was not ever charged, nor is ever expected to be charged, in conjunction with her son's prosecution. |

Question is still valid
|
The question is still valid but due to the nature of a plea deal we may never know the truth. Her son is going to jail and her involvement may remain a mystery. Why doesn't Davis-Carter and the Town of Babylon take up a collection for the 12 year old girl and try and make amends. This whole situation is just the latest scandal soon to be swept under the rug.

Re: Question is still valid

This is what happens when a political party becomes all to powerful and there are no checks and balances.
If the District Attorney was an honest broker in all of this he would have launched an investigation into this and other scandals all across Suffolk County. But alas scandals concerning prominent Democrats are not going to be looked at with any sense of urgency if at all. Also look how Democrat DA in Albany Soares white washed Spitzer's scandalous ways back in the fall. Said Spitzer and his aides did nothing wrong. Corruption is the rule and not the exception among Democrats these days. Sadly. |

Not just Babylon | ||
|
Smithtown too, and now its the Republicans. The report says this is not the end of the investigation, more to follow. I'm sure when Spota is done cleaning up Smithtown he will get started in Babylon. He only has so many investigators and I'm sure they are very busy.
