MAYOKA BEATS OUT BESEN FOR TOWN BOARD IN HUNTINGTON |
Lead | |
|
Republican Mark Mayoka beat out Democrat incumbent Stuart Besen for the town board seat. Republican backed Independence Party Eugene Cook almost edged out Dem
Mark Cuthbertson for the other seat. It's still a long way to go but at least the Democrat machine in Huntington is starting to crack.

A meaninless one seat that will be gone in four years

He cant even get a seconding for anything he will propose. A record low turnout of the conservative base election is the only reason he edged in there. Yes for
council districts!

Face it pol64 Obama and Pelosi are scaring the sh-t out of the public. Those who voted for change are not happy with the change in progress.Dems stayed home in droves knowing full well many dems would be defeated. |

townboard does not represent the whole town
|
thats why places like Dix Hills wants it to remain the same
at one time they had 4-5 town board members living there same areas of the town keep getting shafted Huntington Station, Cold Spring Harbor, Greenlawn, Northport Melville, Commack Council districts are used in state and federal govts so it'll be good for town government system now in place keeps the corruption in place |

The town board is supposed to represent the whole town, and if they don't, they should be voted out. This was the first year in a long time that any of
them felt nervous about not getting their seat back.
So because some of them live in the same area, we should can the whole system and try something new, which is guaranteed to create divisiveness and NIMBYISM like we haven't seen? If all those areas you mentioned feel they've gotten a raw deal perhaps the residents should have gotten together to protest! As I mentioned in another thread, people need to get out to the meetings. Just like school board meetings where only the same people show up, and very few of them, residents can't complain when they don't get involved at any level. If they want change they have to fight for it. If they're not going to fight for it, then too bad for them. Districts on the state and federal level are huge, there would be no comparison whatsoever to what would happen in Huntington being split into four small corners. I shouldn't even say corners, because we don't know where any of the lines are going to be. What if the nice areas of Huntington village get thrown in with the Station? Do you think those people are going to be very happy? Do you think the people of Melville would be happy if they got thrown in with the station area? No way. This is going to cause so many problems it isn't even going to be funny. Corruption comes when you have dishonest people. So let's vote in honest ones, lets allow more people to try to run instead of limiting it to the "chosen" few from a couple of parties who then just cross-endorse, further limiting our choices. Wards are only going to limit our choices even more. NO WAY TO WARDS |

I think we can all agree, regardless of your opinion on ward districts, that the Huntington GOP should get new leadership and overthrow Petrone; for the good
of Huntington and the surrounding towns.
