Raspberry Chardonnay Jam in the hood ?
|
You are beginning to lose your edge, BDR. . .first, you give Laurie a bottle of organic raspberry chardonnay jam. You see a problem here ? I do. And it has all
to do with geography. Raspberry chardonnay jam is more. . .Southampton. . .and only one of us lives there, my friend. It would have tasted good on my morning
cracked wheat/organic oatmeal toast. . .but alas, that is not to be.
You keep telling me that you are a man "of the streets", that you're an ordinary working class schmo. How do you plan to keep that one going when you have admitted to eating raspberry chardonnay jam ? And, to boot, you want it to be the official jam ? Next thing you know, we'll see you sipping Chivas Regal. By the way, 'Terri's Jam' should be the official jam of Quogue, where the mayor just got himself into one. |

EVERYBODY who wants jam can have some, and for FREE - I have tastings scheduled at the Third Party Club Meeting 7pm, Mon Oct 26th at Blue on Montauk Highway, just east of Nicholls Rd on the north side. Then on Nov 3rd, 7pm, at the Americans For Legal Reform meeting, Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, Old Country Rd... You can also sample Blackberry Merlot Jam,, Tomato Bruschetta, Roasted Pepper Bruschetta, Roasted Italian Vegetable Bruschetta, and some delicious Tomato Sauce. You can put it on pasta - I'm old-school, so I put it on "macaroni" Please visit www.healthycommunity harvest.com If anybody has a venue I can do a tasting at, please let me know. Eventually this product line will fund Hunger Action Network's mission to end hunger and it's root causes, including poverty, across the state!!! Jam for a good cause!

BDR Has Lost His Edge (Part 2)
|
Terri, I don't know what secret powers your jam has but BDR is a changed man. . .I walked in there today and he was in fine leather slippers and a smoking
jacket, holding a glass of what appeared to be a fine, single malt scotch in one hand, a cigar in the other and there, on the counter next to the Hugo Boss
eyeglass frames, your raspberry chardonnay jam spread on a soda cracker. Not just any cracker like a saltine, but a soda cracker.
Worse than that, as he was eating the soda cracker with the jam, he was speaking in complete, grammatically correct sentences. It just wasn't the BDR I have known all these years. He handed me a jar of your fine jam and I have brought it where it belongs. . .Southampton. I will be sure to spread this on my morning whole wheat and oatmeal toast tomorrow morning. . . Meanwhile, I am going to pick up a bag of pork rinds for BDR and hopefully, he'll come around. |

Rinds | ||

You don't want these to be organic, sustainably grown, cured and fried pork rinds, do you ? Or, will a bag of, say, Shop Rite's store brand barbecued
pork rinds suffice ?

Bruce -
Your report is most disturbing! I'm afraid we'll have to cut him off and substitute bruschetta. Do you think the Roasted Pepper, Tomato or the Roasted Italian Vegetable Bruschetta would be most likely to bring him back? We'll have him back to Goodfella in no time. Seriously, BDR, I will give you a call when I have a chance to stop in again, and of course you'll get your Raspberry Chardonnay Jam fix. Whose butt do I need to kiss to set up a tasting at the next Town Board meeting? I wouldn't mind that "official" moniker being stamped with a raised seal, LOL!

Hey, I was the moron who said we, as board members, need to take responsibility for aggressively marketing this stuff in the regions we represent, so I'll
kiss whatever ass I have to to get the job done.
Hey Bruce - got any SH leads for me? I'd go to the opening of a door to do a tasting if you think enough people are going to walk through it.

Terri- I will have to put my thinking cap on for leads in Southampton. I must tell you, it seems to me that between the raspberry chardonnay jam and Bruschetta
in its various forms, it would be a sure shot here in the land of the chic. As far as BDR goes, I am not sure anything could bring him back. In fact, I somehow
suspect it was only a matter of time before he would snap and start in with the fine leather slippers and smoking jacket routine. You know, for all of his
bluster about being 'down with the hood', he lives on the north shore. However, I do know he is a soft touch for anything with roasted Italian
vegetables in it.
On a serious note, if this is all for a non-profit, you should contact me at the station about publicity. . .you know, we still do Public Service for non-profit groups in need of publicity. |

The Jam Girl's coming to Riverhead!
|
OK, BDR, I have accepted your challenge to make Healthy Community Harvest's Raspberry Chardonnay jam the OFFICIAL JAM OF THE TOWN OF RIVERHEAD!
Roasted Pepper Bruschetta, Tomato Bruschetta, Roasted Italian Vegetable Bruschetta, Blackberry Merlot Jam, Raspberry Chardonnay Jam and Tomato Sauce are available for free tasting events in exchange for an opportunity to sell the mission of Hunger Action Network of New York State, where all proceeds from sales of HCH products fund our anti-hunger and anti-poverty activism and advocacy across the state. The tasting I did at St John's Sunday was such a hit that 3 out of 5 tastings scheduled over the next few days are in BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN RIVERHEAD: Saturday, December 5th: 9:30 - 12:30 Robert Johns Salon on Main St (not open to the public, this is just for Ray and Margaret's customers) 1 - 4pm Green Earth Natural Foods Market, Main St (a big thank you to proprietor Steve Siegalwaks for hosting, and to Bruce Tria for running PSA's on WRIV) Sunday, December 6th: 12:30 - 1:15 Huntington Baptist Church, 6 Oakwood Rd (corner of High St) Coffee & fellowship with the good folks of Huntington Monday December 7th: 7:00 pm, Riverhead Free Library, RHD Town Democrats monthly meeting. Can't do a tasting in the library, but I'll have plenty of product and propaganda on hand, and RHD Town Chair Butch Langhorne has very graciously offerred me time to do a short blurb. So spread the word, the Jam Girl's coming to BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN RIVERHEAD. Jerry, if you want to make up a petition asking the town council to make RCJ the official jam of RHD Town, I will ABSOLUTELY get folks to sign it! Whaddya say?

Thnx BDR, Bruce Tria, Robert Johns Salon & Green Earth Natural Foods Market & Bob Olson

LOL, yeah, the tire iron, chain, and don't forget that two-headed axe I covet so fiercely.
I want to thank you again for your contacts BDR, and a big shout-out to Bruce Tria for getting WRIV to run the PSA's. Both of today's tastings went very well, and both locations extended an open invitation for repeats! PLUS, both Ray of Robert Johns and one of Steve's vendors at Green Earth tipped me to opportunities I hadn't thought of - so it looks like I'll be doing a LOT more Riverhead events. Bob Olson stopped by, sampled some Healthy Community Harvest product, and bought some to take home to his lovely wife. Hehe, I feel like a drug dealer - now I'll have the Olson family hooked! BTW, is Sr. Marcella from St Johns? My dead aunt spent some time there in the early to late 80's ( maybe even into the early 90's). She was also a nun of the Dominican Order. Sr. Margerat knew her and set me up for a tasting last Sunday, and I'll be doing another one after the holidays. I hope Sr. Marcella enjoys the jam. I left a bunch of product with Sr. Margerat last week after the St. Johns event, and she said she wanted to glaze a roasted chicken with the Raspberry Chardonnay Jam. Mmm, sure sounds tasty to me! Again, thank you, guys - I very much appreciate your assistance.

Well, I got a great response and a couple of leads from both venues, so you just keep running your mouth, because it sure has been beneficial to Hunger Action
Network and our Healthy Community Harvest label!
I laid out a little spread for the Riverhead Town Democrats at the Riverhead Library tonight, and got a very warm and supportive reception, plus a few more Riverhead leads. I made sure to leave some at the front desk for the library staff, too - they were really tickled and pleased to hear about the Riverhead marketing campaign. Yup, we're making it a community affair! Now I've got to set up some Republican events, just to keep things balanced - any takers? I'll be showcasing the Healthy Community Harvest product line at the Calverton Civic Association meeting Wednesday night at 7pm at the Riley Ave School. Please let me know if you want me to come to any faith-based, business, social, political or civic group, or if you know of a deli, grocery store, bakery, restaurant, etc that might be interested in carrying the product. We put all the stores and restaurants that carry it on our website!

See Terri, BDR and Sister Marcella will restore a lapsed Catholic yet
|
If I were looking to market a product, you would be the first salesperson I would look for Terri. You are relentless. I don't know if it is because so
many look to help or are afraid to say no to you. LOL. Just kidding. Regardless of where your soul will go when you die, you have a big heart. While you
are talking to the Riverhead Dems, maybe you can ask them to start getting their act together and run candidates who can win in Riverhead. They dropped the
ball with Rose Sanders this year. Let's hope they learned a lesson from this year's results.
Matters in Riverhead are way too serious and implications are too great for Riverhead to have one party domination. There has to be a solid debate of ideas. Having one party trying to compete with both hands behind their back does not help the citizens of Riverhead or enhance Riverhead's fight to no longer be the literal and figureative dumping ground for the rest of Long Island. I think the Democratic committee in Riverhead needs to do a lot of soul searching and decide how they plan to compete with the Republican Party juggernaut. If the problem is a lack of leadership, then they need to make drastic changes. This is the time for principles to be put above personalities and to put aside individual power fiefdoms that benefit only those few individuals with their own little hidden agendas. |
