SO MY QUESTION TO YOU BOYZ IN THE KNOW...WHY ISN'T THIS A CAMPAIGN ISSUE? I MEAN IF IT'S SUCH A BIG PRODUCER FOR YOU BOYZ.... First of all, tourists can't vote. Secondly, if anyone really sat and thought about just how wonderful the tourist economy is here in the worker's paradise, the public would storm the Bastille.

Riverhead's Downtown is SO EMBARRASSINGLY EMPTY why don't they just have a festival every single weekend? Just close down the street. Charge vendors an average of $200/each/day. Say there are 100 tents (there were many more this past weekend). That's $40,000 per two-day weekend. Maybe 30 weekends a year of tolerable weather. That's $1,200,000 -- conservative estimate. Guess I just miss the 60's and 70's, plenty of public access to every beach and ramp, ocean, sound, bays, etc. We camped wherever the spot was pretty and conducive to a bonfire. If we ended up on someone's property we were welcomed with a few ears of corn or some fruit, and a reminder to make sure our fire was well out before we left. Now there are new-money houses where our dunes used to be, tourists and weekenders clogging up our roads and a whole industry of ass-kissing zoning boards, politicians, opportunists & hangers on sucking up the crumbs eagerly. The merchant class will tell you they bring in money and tax revenue without using services. In reality, the extra cops constables and sheriffs we pay to police them and the trade parade uses more resources than school taxes anyway. We've got to find a happy medium.
