Can anyone tell me why Mr. Pennsso was running around the village today trashing (no pun intended) the clean up job that the DPW workers were performing the last 2 days after the week of rain and yesterdays wind storm?
Why does that clod feel the need to constantly trash talk us. I guess after reading this he will heft some phony praise on us at the next meeting. |

pENSO SEE WHAT HE WANTS | ||
|
DPW, it seems to me Penso should be more concerned about his former teachers. Instead of running around bashing you guys he should find out why former teachers are going after the students they taught?
This is the second former teacher that shamed us why? Is Penso allowing this our children need to be protected from these Predators right Dave? Clean up our schools and leave DPW alone |

coverup? | ||

Can you say Cover Up.
Well Mr. Pennso which hat were you wearing during these events. 1) HS teacher let go June 2005 for having an affair with a HS child. 2) Another HS teacher let go June 2005, Arrested Aug. 2006 for molesting a 17yr old Lynbroook HS child from his teaching days. The question is WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO KEEP US INFORMED AND OUR CHILDREN SAFE. The Answer is ABSOULUTLY NOTHING, YOU ARE TOO BUSY BASHING PEOPLE AND PANDERING FOR VOTES IN 2007. IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU ISN'T IT DAVE? And I also heard about your family promoting underage drinking. Nice Touch. |

Thanks | ||

Thanks for the kind words Elmer. Too bad the trustee called the Penguin did nothing but complain to people about our measly overtime earnings.
I guess it was OK for him to take credit for our sweat and then condem us over at his office (dunkin) and around town for the cost of the cleanup. I guess if we had flood insurance the village would have been a safer place. LOL fatboy |

Providing Liquor is a Crime

I think it is totally disgusting that Mr. Penso is acting so aloof concerning a party he hosted on June 16th at Verdes catering Hall where a child got so drunk he passed out was unable to be revived and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance having his stomach pumped for alcohol poisioning.
Then we are told by him that our kids shouldn't ever have a MySpace account and bam, his kid has one and it is full of racial slurs, gang conotations, referecnces to alcohol and the excessive us of alcohol. All by underage children Is this who we want running our community? I think Not. Notice the press is not going near this one. They always seemem to be in his pocket anyway. |

Taxes | ||
|
When Dave Penso said his tax bill was over 12,000 I think that showed many of us the overall effect of taxes.
However he failed to mention that his school taxes increased nearly 17% from school roll tax year 2004 -2005 to school roll tax year 2005 - 2006. A 17% increases in school taxes for one year is huge. His school taxes went from 5,306.13 to 6,195.98 That is a huge jump in school taxes. For all the complaining about village taxes - we don't get hit with 17% increases in one year. It will be interesting to see how big his school tax increase will be for the school roll tax year 2006-2007. Will it be another double digit increase? Good thing the village can at least help his taxes by giving him a 0% increase this year. With the HUGE jumps in school tax he needs that 0%. Well here are a few more of our residents (reform party faithful) who desperately needed the 0% increase the village board gave us: Sir Blowhard (hi Mitch) 2004 -2005 school tax 4500.83 2005-2006 school tax 5445.15 one year increase: 20.98% Broke another chair 2004 - 2005 school tax 3148.63 2005 - 2006 school tax 3463.51 one year increase (even with enhanced STAR) 10% Must do Better (Hi Marie) 2004-2005 school tax 3838.89 2005-2006 school tax 4716.77 one year increase : 22.87% If he taxes himself 17% to pay for his wife's salary - just think what he will do to the rest of us If Dave does that to his own faithful - look at what he will do to the rest of us |

Volunteerism is what makes a community
|
The truth has finally come out that the Reform Party is looking to completely change the look of the fire department if they get into power.
Lois Rothenberg is looking to have her own relatives look over the back of the department to review and approve our purchases. Now that she is leaving we know why she wanted this to happen. Sure set up the cronyism and then skip town. Dave Penso and the rest of his gang have been shown to be no friends of the department with their view of cutting the equipment purchases and even questioning the need to buy safety gear such as the bunker gear that protects us. This can not be tolerated in our village. We can't close firehouses, we can't expect people to risk their lives every day with sub standard gear and equipment. We can't ask these people to run into a burning home not knowing if their gear will work or not. The more hits the fire department takes the less volunteers there will be. Just remember that when you have to call for an ambulance and have to wait for it to come from Malverne, Valley Stream or RVC because the volunteers couldn't take the repeated attacks from the Reform Party. Are those precious extra minutes you might have to wait for a response worth the $3 savings in your taxes. You can thank the Reform Party for that idea. |

why so upset? | ||

So holding the line on taxes for Lynbrook's families is a gimmick. I think it's good public policy. Penso voted no because Mitch told him to. The man is on remote control and has no mind of his own. |

Dollar store is a great idea

The dollar store is a great idea and for certain it will be very busy. I anticipate traffic problems down the road especially in light of the renovation at the Feather Factory with no additional parking added.

Shopping | ||
|
The dollar store will probably generate a good amount of business as plenty of people from the village will shop there. I believe they have a few spots in the small lot there.
The main issue will be the overall parking. As was mentioned with the addition of whatever goes in the feather factory - parking will be getting tighter in the downtown area. Throw on top of that any proposal to update the movie theater and the problem gets even tougher. Just imagine if Astoria Federal ever shut down their lot to outside traffic the problems that would occur. |
