The Huntington Republican Committe backed Bill Dowler for supervisor. This is how Petrone and his liberal crew of dems win elections. They buy off conservatives with jobs and raises and pry them away from supporting Republicans in the hope it will weaken them both. With a large Democrat slush fund for just this type of financing to give jobs to disgruntled Republicans and conservatives the Petrone 5-0 town board keeps chugging away. They must be stopped.

Mary Collins town of Huntington democrat leader has called on her committee people to canvas Independent Party members for the upcoming Independence Party primary. She told them many of the Democrats doing the canvassing felt they were doing God's work. She was serious ! As for Nolan and his democrat minions vote against them in two months. That will send a stern message.

Politics is about power. How to get it and how to keep it. We treat politics like it is some kind of secular religion. All of us to a degree think we are doing God's work in achieving what we believe is right for everyone else. We put all of our faith and trust in human beings running for office who make the most outrageous promises to get elected or reelected. It doesn't matter which party or ideology. Politicians are politicians. I think we all need to step back and realize these public officials are never going to deliver us from all of our problems. I am sure you have encountered Jehovah's Witnesses and others when you are going door to door during campaigns. When I first heard one explain that Jesus was not a politician and that members of their congregation are not allowed to engage in the political process in any form, that they were ignorant or misinformed. I am coming to believe that maybe those of us who actually believe that we are achieving anything of any significance in the political arena are misguided. What is happening in Huntington with the Conservative Party is what is happening with all of the political parties. When the groups in power truly do not represent the will of the people they govern, they use underhanded tactics to stay in power. I have come to believe that the third parties have not only failed to reform politics but have actually made things far worse. I am coming to believe that the 2 party system with no cross endorsements may actually be an improvement.

With cross endorsements running rampant at times I think instead of a third party "which will always be bought out by one of the two major parties in power" the banning of cross endorsements by political parties could be the only way to go. The political process in New York State and the country has reached new lows I never thought possible.
