The union was 0 for 2 with their big push for Lantz and Williams. Wonder if the rank and file will get a full accounting from their leader on what they spent
trying to buy their way in. My kids will benefit from passed budget and a board and admin that's working together toward common goals.

Yes--and I hope the malcontents can take a good, hard look at themselves and work ON THEMSELVES, instead of taking cheap shots at an administration who is
FOCUSED ON TEACHING AND LEARNING!!
Thank goodness! |

What I find funny is people ADULTS that are graduates of the school district and have
become successful business owners or lawyers, teachers etc... love to pound past teaching .How bad could it have been when this district has had put many into the world that have had successes. If this district was so bad prior to this administration they never would of made it where they are today. Also ..if this district has been so bad for so long ,why would they even decide to bring their children up here and put them in a district that was so horrible? Families like Stark,Hulse,Griffing.Conklin,Tuccio,Luce,Saxstein etc all came from this district. Laurie |

And Laurie remember when they only had a principle and a vice principle? Whatever did we do without those other 60 administrators? Oh I remember....we saved
money!!!

Laurie, you are correct. There have been families who have sent their children to school ready to learn and who have been involved in their children's
education. No shock that they have done well. But there are so many more out there who need a more intensive plan. You are an open-minded and fair person.
Please give this administration more time.
Thanks--Happy Memorial Day! |

How noble of you to agree that good parenting is sooo important in a child's education. Maybe you could put together an intensive educational parenting plan and let their kids join in. Of course you would need at least an MSW degree for this. The cost of the education needed for the degree would be paid by the taxpayers. SOP procedures for teachers who want to qualify for an increase in salary. Over educated teachers who can't teach is not the answer. BTW, besides third grade teaching, what are your credentials to speak for special education? |

My experience in the field of education spans many areas, not only classroom teaching. Anytime you want a copy of my resume, I would be glad to share it with
you.
Thanks for your interest. |

My comment on the successful graduates from Riverhead had nothing to do with Parents being behind the kids. What
I was saying is if our district was so bad they wouldn't be where they are today. I'm appalled to hear from the mouths of graduates that sit on our Board that the district was so bad prior to this Administration. Because what they are saying is that they themselves had a bad education. Thats what I was talking about. I know many a parent that was involved and not always did the child blossom. Parental involvement does not guarantee their child going to Harvard.Just because a parent is not seen within the school does not mean they don't care neither What works for you might not work for others. It still falls on the Teachers and the motivation of the child. Not 10 Administrators pointing fingers and giving orders. When I was in school if I didn't like the teacher or if the teacher was a weak teacher ,I didn't work for them and my parents were there.Mucho Administrators would not of made a difference. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Laurie |

Sometimes a trip to a high performing district is a good idea; not a rich district, a high performing one. See what's in place. You might want to Google
direct effects upon student achievement.
Enjoy your weekend, |

Kwo,
Don't need to see your resume.I've looked a few resumes lately and so far I've not seen one that states what the author has accomplished in the position to which they are applying. Don't be like the rest of the Riverhead "wannabe's" And what is it you "wannabe"? Truth or dare? |

I sent you my resume because you were questioning my ability. I am merely involved as a civic duty. My ideas are way too different from those in power and I
have said before, the inner circle rules.. Anyway, I appreciate your interest.
Enjoy this nice day, |

Laurie,
I'm with you on this. Education today is mostly about politics, power and money. The justification for all this is always"It's for the kids". We pay administrators 100K per year to write grant requests that bring in 50K and the school boards tell us that it it is only costing taxpayers 50K for the grant writer. What kind of math is that? I recently received an administrator's resume. She sent it to me by e mail. So, she has educational credentials and some teaching experience, but obviously prefers administrative work. That's a no brainer. When you can't do, you tell others how to. The administrator is not with the RSD. Just a person who is overly impressed with herself and her education. |

I know the Educator you are speaking of...I respect that person and her opinions. As she does with mine..we don't always agree but she does understand where
I'm coming from.
When I was President of the PTSO I was part of many interviews..Teachers..and Administrators. My questioning came from a parental point of view however I learned a lot during those interviews. When you have a Teacher that want to become an Administrator and only taught 3 years maybe 4,That would give me a red flag that they are trying to climb the ladder fast.Which would make me think they are there for themselves and not the kids .They are heading for the gusto way to fast. However when I got a Teacher that had 6 or more years than I knew they were ready for the move ..depending on how the interview went. You do get morons.....Not all are ready. Heres an example of a question I used one day ..We were interviewing for Guidance Counselor. Now we held 7 interviews that day 4 out of the 7 were already working ,3 were brand new looking to start their careers and only 1 gave the correct answer... It's Friday 5pm your the last person to leave the school.Only custodians are left.Your all excited because your getting together with friends you have not seen in a long time .Your already behind by leaving at 5.You get out side and there is a girl sitting on the curb crying. You go over and ask what is wrong. She tells you she got in trouble in school that day and she can't go home because her Dad will beat her.She is scared to death...What do you do? I bet you the Administrator you speak of can answer..... Laurie |

I am sorry you have such a low opinion of me. I understand you do not understand my career path. Sometimes good teachers are selected and urged by their
superintendents and others to help teach other professionals. An administrative credential is required and there are those, like myself, who chose that path.
It was because we WERE EXCELLENT TEACHERS, that some of us were chosen to take that path.
Your negativity and cheap shots are sad. |

I would probably sit on the curb with her, get her to talk more. Then, when she was finished, I would bring her inside, help her to "freshen-up",
and call her home. I would invite her father to come in to the office to clear up any misunderstanding about the day and to also let both parties know that
we expect our children to return to a safe environment.
Between us all, we would leave knowing that maybe the girl may not have used the best judgment in whatever she had done and a different and more appropriate consequence for her action would be agreed upon with no violence. I would also thank the parent for working along with us and reinforce my belief that raising children today is very hard and that children can try our patience. I would gauge his reaction and somehow may be able to get him to think about some anger management support. I would tell them both that I will be calling them later and that I hoped we all were leaving with a good understanding of how we were to move forward. I would also tell them both that our girl would be working along with me in some capacity, as I would want to keep an eye on her and her situation. I would stay in consistent contact with him, as well. Another scenario I have also had involved students who say their parents will harm them, but they are not being truthful. I would use the same approach: ask questions, investigate the situation and then respond. I do not know if this is the answer you are looking for, but it is what I would do. I have lost many hours of sleep over some of my prior students, parents and also teachers. Take care, |

That would of passed my test at least on my question .While you would be giving the answer I would throw other questions in,everyone knows that answers
sometimes generate more questions. The answer I receive along with the answers to the other questions from the professionals would also weigh in .
Very good KWOJO.. Laurie |
