Gossip blogger/barrel-scraper Perez Hilton was a judge at the Miss USA pageant last night. He asked Miss California, Carrie Prejean, whether she supported legalizing gay marriage. Prejean answered respectfully that she disagreed with the legalization movement, but supported states' rights to put the question up for a vote. She was booed: Hilton responded by calling Prejean a "dumb btch:" More: A US beauty pageant hopeful was called "a dumb !$$+%" by a celebrity judge after candidly answering a question about same-sex marriage. Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was asked by contest judge and celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton for her views on gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, samesame.com reports. Hilton asked this question: "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalise same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?" "Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other," 21-year-old Prejean said. "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage," she continued. "You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offence to anybody out there. "But that's how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you." Hilton, the self proclaimed "Queen of all media" who has campaigned for gay equal rights, called the answer "the worst answer in pageant history". On a video blog on his website Hilton said, "She lost not because she doesn't believe in gay marriage, she lost because she's a dumb !$$+%!" The Miss USA pageant should be ashamed for providing Perez Hilton a platform for his intolerant bigotry and abuse of Carrie Prejean. Instead, the pageant director for the Miss California contest is condemning Prejean - and Hilton is gloating. Disgraceful. She is blaming 'losing my (sic) crown' because of what she said about gay marriage. She claimed it before she won it and is now blaming liberals on the fact that Miss North Carolina won. The facts she doesn't acknowledge is that 1. Looks wise the two of them are interchangable, most people couldn't tell the difference on the street so it was a toss up. 2. If her answer was the issue, it probably wasn't because of the stance but because she stated it in such a clumsy manner, first saying that it was up to people to do what they wanted and then saying she was against it. Stop being such hypocrites. What Hilton did was inject his own personal agenda into a contest that had nothing to do with his lifestyle or politics, and it's something he shouldn't have done. The fact that he's gay doesn't mean he has to be prejudiced against someone who doesn't believe in gay marriage. People are entitled to their own opinions, and she did it in a very respectful way.

Case in point: Giuliani. I like Giuliani so very much, I really admired him a lot and refrained from unfairly judging him on some of his associations which caused him some public relations problems. Now the fellow has been recently been quoted as saying that he's against gay marriage because of his "religious" beliefs, I've done an "about face" regarding even his fitness for candidacy. Well, if he was THAT religious- he would have never gotten divorced, no less thee times. I was completely disheartened when I read his point of view- that I have now discarded any ideas about ever voting for him. What a shame- I believe he is talented, strong, a decent man, and governs well, but I would not elect a bigot. No more, in my mind, anyway. I've now completely lost faith in him. Message to all elected or wanna be elected representatives: leave your religion at home, or at the salad bar where you pick and chose what part of your personal faith to use, and when you use it, the operative word being "use". There is such a thing as "Separation of Church and State"- and too many of you are blurring the two- just to please an ignorant constituency. Ms California- hailing from Prop 8 land- too bad. She should have used her brain. No one gives a damn about the bigoted views of her and her family. She very well could have given an answer that would have expressed a political point of view that did not advocate for oppression, of any kind, for any protected class of citizens. And you know Miss California doesn't exactly impress me either. You know what I found out tonight? As far as rules for the contest go the only difference between the Miss America and Miss USA contest are is that the Miss USA contest doesn't have a talent contest. That's right, we are talking about a beauty contest that doesn't even have a talent portion. In other words, it is for people who are too dumb and lack the skills to compete in Miss America.
